How to Do Palm Springs and Coachella Weekend Right

Coachella is the easiest festival in the world to do badly. Fly into Palm Springs, book whatever hotel has availability, show up at the grounds without a plan, and you'll spend the best weekend of the festival calendar standing in a line somewhere asking yourself why this felt better on Instagram. It doesn't have to be that way.

TL;DR: Coachella 2026 — the festival's 25th edition — runs Weekend 1 on April 10–12 and Weekend 2 on April 17–19 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Headliners are Sabrina Carpenter (Friday), Justin Bieber (Saturday, making his first major festival appearance in nearly four years), and Karol G (Sunday, the first Latina artist to headline the festival). The Noon edit for the full experience is five days in Palm Springs, April 9–13: base at The Parker Palm Springs, dinner at Bar Cecil, and the festival as the anchor event.

We built the full itinerary and posted it — our 5-day Palm Springs itinerary is on the feed below — and if you want to feel what Palm Springs actually looks like right now, this reel captures it.

Why Coachella 2026 is different

This is the festival's 25th edition, and the lineup reflects it. Sabrina Carpenter headlines Friday fresh off her Man's Best Friend album cycle — one of the biggest touring artists in the world right now, making her Coachella headliner debut after a memorable main stage set in 2024. Saturday belongs to Justin Bieber, returning to Coachella as a headliner after nearly four years away from major performances. He debuted tracks from Swag and Swag II at an intimate invite-only show at The Roxy in LA just two weeks ago — his Coachella set will be the full-scale version. Sunday closes with Karol G — the first Latina artist to headline the festival — alongside Anyma debuting his new Æden project.

Below the headliners, the depth is strong: The xx, The Strokes, Disclosure, Nine Inch Noize (a one-off collaboration between Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize), Interpol, Laufey, FKA Twigs, David Byrne, Ethel Cain, Clipse, Major Lazer, Iggy Pop, and Solomun. The 2026 edition also marks firsts: Katseye become the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella, and BINI become the first Filipino group on the Coachella stage.

The festival sold out both weekends within a week of the lineup announcement — which tells you everything about demand this year.

Why does Palm Springs work as a Coachella base?

The conventional wisdom is to stay close to the grounds — Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert. Proximity is logical if the festival is everything and you want to crawl back to bed between sets. But if the point is a great five-day experience with Coachella as the centerpiece rather than the entire trip, Palm Springs is a better base by every other measure.

Palm Springs has better hotels. Better restaurants. More interesting architecture and pool culture. The 45-minute drive to Indio on the I-10 is painless if you leave early and hire a car for the day. You arrive at the grounds rested, well-fed, and without the feeling that the festival and your hotel are the same beige experience on a loop.

The Parker Palm Springs is the specific answer. The property sits on 13 private acres with three pools, Jonathan Adler interiors that have aged into a kind of desert-cool perfection, and a spa — the Palm Springs Yacht Club — that is genuinely one of the better hotel spas in California. The property has been a preferred Coachella base for nearly two decades for a simple reason: you need somewhere to decompress after hours on a polo field in 90-degree heat. The Parker is that place.

Where should you eat during Coachella weekend?

Five days in Palm Springs is long enough to eat well every night. Here's how to build the week.

Bar Cecil is the anchor. Chef Gabriel Woo's French-American bistro on South Palm Canyon Drive has become the dining room Palm Springs has needed for years — lively and intimate at the same time, with a bar program that's worth arriving early for. Reservations book out weeks in advance and release 14 days prior; walk-ins are welcome at the bar. This is the place to come back to more than once. Book it for Thursday and Sunday nights when the energy in the room is right.

Norma's at the Parker is the obvious breakfast and brunch answer — you're already staying there, and it's one of the better hotel restaurants in Southern California. Open early, runs all day, does the eggs Benedict and French toast well, and has a full bar if the morning calls for it. Use it for the slow mornings before the festival grounds open.

Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey is the late-night answer. Chef Engin Onural's sushi bar on North Palm Canyon Drive is one of the more interesting restaurant concepts in the desert — omakase-style with a serious whiskey program. It books up, but the counter often has availability late. Go here the night you don't feel like sitting through a full dinner.

Workshop Kitchen + Bar on North Palm Canyon is the room for a proper dinner on the night you want something more casual than Bar Cecil but still worth the reservation. Modern American, strong seasonal cocktails, one of the better outdoor patios in downtown Palm Springs. Reliable, never disappointing.

For the nights you're back late from the grounds and want something low-key: the Parker's pool bar handles it. Don't overthink it. Aerial view of Coachella Valley desert landscape Palm Springs California

Is the VIP experience worth it in 2026?

More than ever. For a 25th anniversary edition with this headliner lineup, general admission crowd density on Saturday and Sunday nights is going to be significant. VIP credentials unlock access to 12 Peaks near the Main Stage and the Rose Garden — shaded seating, elevated food and drink, air-conditioned restrooms, and enough breathing room to actually move between stages with intention.

Beyond access, 2026 has notable on-grounds programming worth knowing about. Gap is the official merch partner debuting a Hoodie House with exclusive Gap x Coachella gear and on-site customization. The Coachella 25-year merchandise archive activation — powered by BELLA+CANVAS — lets you explore vintage merch from all 25 editions and create custom pieces using archive graphics. Rivian is running a desert oasis listening lounge with electric vehicle activations. And the Miniverse activation — a miniature replica of the full festival grounds — is one of those things that photographs better than it sounds and sounds better than you'd expect.

For another high-demand spring event, our guide to the 2026 Miami Grand Prix applies the same logic — both weekends reward the same level of advance planning, and both are significantly better experiences when the logistics are handled before you land.

What You Actually Want to Know

When are the Coachella 2026 dates?
Weekend 1: April 10–12, 2026. Weekend 2: April 17–19, 2026. Both at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The lineup is identical across both weekends.

Who are the Coachella 2026 headliners?
Sabrina Carpenter headlines Friday, Justin Bieber headlines Saturday, and Karol G closes Sunday — the first Latina artist to headline the festival. Anyma also headlines with the debut of his Æden project on the Sunday lineup.

How far is Palm Springs from the Coachella grounds?
About 45 minutes on the I-10 East to Indio. Rideshare and private car services run heavily throughout both weekends.

How many rooms does The Parker Palm Springs have?
144 rooms across 13 private acres. The property books up months in advance for Coachella weekend — for 2027, the window opens earlier than you'd expect.

Is Palm Springs or Indio the better base?
Indio and La Quinta put you closest to the grounds. Palm Springs makes sense if you want the festival as the centerpiece of a broader desert experience — better hotels, better restaurants, more interesting days. The Noon edit is built around the latter.
